The Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program© (PS/A) course is an intermediate-level, full-day course. It emphasizes real-world applications that physicians and audiologists encounter in managing noise exposed workers in a variety of occupational settings.

The course lectures review the current literature and practice guidelines. Instructors present employee case studies for participant problem-solving, critical thinking and small-group discussion. Case presentations discuss PS responsibilities, guidelines for managing problem audiograms and determination of work-relatedness.

Certification Prerequisites

To certify as a Professional Supervisor, participants must meet the prerequisites below.
Participants must:

  • be an MD, DO or audiologist.
  • provide a copy of a current state license prior to registering for the Professional Supervisor Course.
  • complete the online application and provide payment for the PS course

NOTE: Other hearing conservation-related professionals are also invited to participate in a PS course; however, they are not eligible to take the certification exam.

Course Description:

This one-day course is designed for certified audiologists (Au. D., CCC-A, ABA, F-AAA, or M.S.) and physicians (MD and DO) seeking instruction in the role and scope of practice of the Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program©. Attendees are eligible to receive continuing education credits; certain sessions may also provide medical education credits. This course leads to certification after fulfillment of requirements.

CURRICULUM: The course curriculum and case presentations will cover:

  • The role and responsibilities of the Professional Supervisor of the Audiometric Monitoring Program.
  • Methods for establishing and supporting audiometric monitoring programs.
  • Review of problem audiograms, including baseline revisions.
  • Determining work-relatedness of hearing loss.
  • Audiometric recordkeeping required by federal regulations and best practices.
  • Database management and program integration with other members of the hearing conservation team.

CERTIFICATION / RECERTIFICATION COURSE:
   Course (civilian) .........  $700
   Course (military) .........  $0 (Participant MUST apply to a "military only" course to participate at no cost.

SHORTER RECERTIFICATION COURSE:
   Course (civilian) .........  $500

CERTIFICATION EXAM:
   Initial certification Exam... $225
   Re-certification Exam.......  $175

CANCELLATION POLICY:

If registration is cancelled prior to participant starting the on-line course, participant will receive a full refund of their fee (-) a $150.00 processing fee. No refund will be granted for cancellations received after the course has been started, however, the amount may be applied to a another CAOHC course.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

In the event an in-person or virtual PS course is cancelled or rescheduled, CAOHC will offer to refund any fees that were collected directly by CAOHC. If a participant chooses to cancel their registration 2 weeks prior to the start of an in-person or virtual course or prior to starting an on-line course, participant will receive a full refund of their fee minus (-) a processing fee of $150. No refund will be granted for cancellations received after the course has been started; however, the amount may be applied to a another CAOHC course.
